The best way to get to Tanzania

Welcome to Tanzania, a captivating destination blessed with diverse landscapes and rich cultural experiences! Our country is well-connected to the world through esteemed international carriers, including KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Kenya Airways, and Ethiopian Airlines, which also provide convenient access to Dar es Salaam. This bustling city serves as a gateway for visitors exploring the southern parks, pristine beaches, and the enchanting island of Zanzibar. These attractions are easily accessible through numerous international airlines operating at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA), formerly known as Dar es Salaam International Airport.
As Zanzibar gains popularity as a major destination, we are thrilled to offer hassle-free travel options with international air carriers serving the island. If you plan to combine your adventure in Kenya with the wonders of Tanzania, arriving via Nairobi at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) is an excellent choice. From there, you can catch daily flights connecting to Kilimanjaro (JRO), Dar es Salaam (JNIA), and Zanzibar.
For travelers who prefer an overland journey from Nairobi to the northern Tanzanian game parks, we at Moona Tours&Safaris are delighted to arrange suitable road transfers, ensuring a seamless and unforgettable experience. Embrace the spirit of exploration as you embark on an extraordinary adventure in Tanzania, where nature’s wonders await your discovery.”

Currency and Payment Information

While the official currency in Tanzania is the Tanzania Shilling (Tsh), the U.S. dollar is widely accepted throughout the country. However, we advise that for larger U.S. dollar denominations ($20, $50, and $100), only bills issued after 2006 will be accepted in Tanzania. This precaution is in place to prevent counterfeiting and fraud.

At larger safari lodges, major souvenir shops, and popular tourist towns, you can conveniently use major credit cards for payments. Additionally, you’ll find ATM bank machines in these areas where you can withdraw Tanzanian shillings using your bank card or credit card. Please keep in mind that the ATM bank machines only dispense Tanzanian shillings.
We kindly request you to note that some lodges may not have visa facilities for payment, so it’s always best to check beforehand and carry sufficient local currency if needed.
